This Sculpture recalls the many evocative images of old decaying, relics of Naomhogs found near small inlets, harbours and piers around Ireland. Once the life blood of communities, now lie unused. The materials and shapes recall tales of hardships, strength and survival; lifelines and anchors combine with humanity and dreams. Burnt, decayed oak, rest upon gently lapping waves frozen in cast bronze. The upturned negative shapes of charred wood echoing the curves of the currach’s ribs. Remembering

Simple in form the bulb’s inner dynamics conceal the potential of life, a bursting forth of spirit. Vulnerable and at times abandoned, its innate determination to survive generates inspiration and hope.

Stones and Bones, Seeds and Pods, softened by the rolling waves, blown and rooted by the winds and rain.
Peas in a pod – how nature and nurture propagate the germinating embryo. The soft feminine ‘Yin’ rock rests
assuredly and snugly on top of the firm strength of the‘Yang’. Together they strive for their future.

MATERIALS: Bronze and Granite.

Unfailing in her seasonal regularity, inspirational Mother Earth re-generates life of diversity and difference.

Every nuance of shape, colour, form and texture. In richness of fields; sprinkles of glisteningsands; depths of translucent seas and rhythmic running waters she is the bearer of life.
In this sculpture, the circular bronze disc with its imprinted regular pattern arises from the solid rock of granite displaying its femininity with the placing of the
seed pod. Alongside, but independently, a harmonious miniature disc sprouts from stone, rolled smooth by  the unending waves of the sea.
